WORKSHOP

FITZMAURICE VOICEWORK® WORKSHOP October 21, 2018

Workshop details

In the course of the workshop we will cover the foundation of Fitzmaurice Voicework®, destructuring: "Destructuring promotes awareness and aliveness in the body, spontaneous and free breathing, and wide-ranging vocal expressivity—using Tremorwork®, a variety of other dynamic exercises, and hands-on work." (Fitzmaurice  Institute Website).

Later in the workshop we will explore the second phase of Fitzmaurice Voicework, restructuring: "Restructuring encourages a healthy economy of effort while speaking or singing—and a deep connection to language and listener—using modified bel canto techniques" (Fitzmaurice  Institute Website).

Important information

You should come prepared with a monologue or sonnet you would like to explore in the course of the workshop.  Contemporary monologues will work, but something from Shakespeare is ideal.  It need not be long.

Participants will need to bring a yoga mat or blanket, a zafu or substantial cushion, and, if possible, a smaller cushion.

You are advised to wear loose, comfortble clothing and dress in layers.  You should also bring water.

We will take an hour break for lunch.  You may wish to bring your own, or there is a Tesco Express across the street.
